The "Real" Top 25, week 14

By

Another one bites the dust. In a year where it has been all about the upsets, Ohio State University is one loss away from making it back to the big game for the third time in six years. I could name around 10 teams who could be the best team in the country. That is why there should be a playoff. Lucky for you, in my world there is, and it was be shown next week, with the champion. As for now, here is how the top 25 shapes up.

1. Missouri 11-1 (3): The Tigers are one away from the improbable, and one loss away from the probable. That means in a season to expect the unexpected they should win. Not so fast my friend. It is all about match-ups, and OU is not a good one for them.

2. West Virginia 10-1 (4): The other team who controls its own destiny, the Mountaineers are a virtual shoe in. The only way they don't win the championship is if they turn the ball over, or suffer an injury to their backfield.

3. Georgia 10-2 (5): It is more impressive to go 10-2 in the SEC than 11-1 in the Big 10. I don't see UGA losing in the BCS bowl game with how it has been playing.

4. Ohio State 11-1 (6): It looks like OSU will back into the championship after not playing the last two weeks and not having a conference championship game. I will protest and not watch the game if OSU makes it to New Orleans.

5. LSU 10-2 (1): It took the Tigers six overtmes to lose two games, but they were close to losing more. The banged-up defense just couldn't hold up.

6. USC 9-2 (12): I, like many others are very impressed with the way USC has played. However, I think it shows that the Pac 10 isn't quite as good as everyone thinks.

7. Oklahoma 10-2 (8): The injury to Sam Bradford may have been the thing keeping OU out of the championship game. The Sooners are that good.

8. Kansas 11-1 (2): It wil be interesting to see how good the Jayhawks are after playing in a pretty big bowl. Not a great showing against Mizzou until late.

9. Virginia Tech 10-2 (10): Just a few weeks ago the Hokies were rare home dogs to Boston College, now most think they will win on a neutral field. Revenge will be sweet for Tech.

10. Florida 9-3 (13): The young defense has really let this team down this year. Why hasn't Tebow been playing on that side of the ball?

11. Boston College 10-2 (14): Matt Ryan is looking for more magic on the Hokies in the ACC Championship game. Sure it is a bad conference, but at least they have a championship game.

12. Tennessee 9-3 (17): Showed some guts after blowing yet another big lead. I wouldn't be surprised if the Vols had a multiple score lead on LSU as well. You know this game will go down to the wire.

13. Hawaii 11-0 (15): I picked the Warriors to lose to Boise and I was wrong, so I will pick them to lose to U-W.

14. Arizona State 9-2 (7): A horrendous performance against USC. Watch out for Arizona.

15. Illini 9-3 (18): What a great game it will be the first week of next year: Illinois vs. Missouri in St. Louis (again)

There is no reason to complete the poll since all teams are equally average.

BCS Breakdown:

Championship: Ohio State vs. West Virginia

Rose Bowl: USC vs. Illinois

Fiesta: Oklahoma vs. Arizona State

Orange: Virginia Tech vs. Kansas

Sugar: LSU vs. Hawaii
