The "Real" Top 25, week 9Another mix up in the polls in what has been an amazing season. The problem is there is no unbeatable team, which makes it hard in the polls. 1. Ohio State (8-0) (2): It was a struggle for the Buckeyes after another great first quarter. They have the best defense I have seen in quite some time, but the offense needs to maintain for four quarters to beat PSU Saturday. 2. LSU (7-1) (2): The Tigers are not as good as I thought they were, but they are still better than anyone else. What happened to the once dominant running game? 3. Boston College (7-0) (4): I don't see it beating Virginia Tech on the road, but anything is possible this year. The O-line has to give Matt Ryan time if the Eagles want to win. 4. Oregon (6-1) (8): I finally saw the Ducks for the first time, and boy is that offense good, but that defense, not so good. What an interesting matchup it would be in the Rose Bowl with OSU. 5. Oklahoma (7-1) (9): The Sooners are struggling big time on the road. How do you almost lose to ISU? A potential roadblock lies ahead with a trip to Texas Tech. 6. West Virginia (6-1) (10): It just keeps taking care of cupcakes while it creeps back up the ratings. With its schedule, you can't cut it out. 7. Florida (5-2) (12): What a solid performance it turned in against Kentucky. Two last minute losses from being undefeated. You can't count the Gators out either. 8. Virginia Tech (6-1) (11): A win over Boston College would put the Hokies back in the title race as well. With the bad ACC though, they need everyone to lose again. 9. Arizona State (7-0) (13): The Sun Devils can finally prove themselves Saturday, but it won't be as big of a win with Cal's struggles. I can't get the new loss to Wazzou out of my mind. 10. South Florida (7-1) (1): Too many mistakes again by the Bulls, and this time they couldn't overcome them. How do you allow two fakes to kill you? 11. Kansas (8-0) (15): The Jayhawks did something OU couldn't do and won at Colorado. That still isn't impressive to me. A win over Texas A&M would. 12. Missouri (6-1) (16): What a dominating performance it displayed against Texas Tech. If the defense can keep playing that way, watch out. Unfortunately, they need to bottle that on the road. 13. USC (6-1) (14): The Trojans have yet to prove that they are worth anything. They could go a long way in making it back in the title picture this week. 14. Kentucky (6-2) (6): Not a bad loss at all to Florida. The defense just didn't show up, which isn't a total surprise. 15. South Carolina (6-2) (5): What a disappointing loss for the Ole' Ball Coach. How do you lose at home to Vandy when playing for a title. Easy. Looking ahead to Tennessee (I don't know why). 16. Georgia (5-2) (21): The Dogs move up because of forefit. At least they beat Vandy, and it was on the road! 17. Michigan (6-2) (22): That was an impressive win at Illinois with a depleated team. It could be pretty darn good after all. 18. Texas (6-2) (23): The Horns are still trying to work out a few kinks, but they are improving. 19. California (5-2) (7): Another disappointing loss, this time with its starting QB. ASU lies ahead. 20. Auburn (5-3) (17): What an impressive performance by the Tigers at LSU. If only they were playing like this their first three games. 21. Virginia (7-1) (-): The Cavs just keep finding a way to win, but it is very hard to take them seriously. 22. Penn State (6-2) (24): An impressive win at Indiana (yes, I said it) when it could have been looking ahead to OSU. 23. Hawaii (7-0) (25): I cant wait until Washingto slaps them around. 24. Texas Tech (19): It was a struggle at Mizzou, but there are more games ahead for redemption. 25 Alabama (6-2) (-): A dominating win over UT puts the Tipde back in the mix. Best of the rest: Wisconsin, Rutgers, UCONN
