Kennedy's Weekly College and NFL picks

College and Pro football picks against the spread for the 2011/2012 season

By

Ryan Kennedy

My picks run from Monday to Sunday per each week.  I keep my picks from the last two weeks on here so you can see what I picked and why.  Sometimes I will tell you what went wrong on a loss or brag a little on a win.  Remember these are for entertainment purposes only.  Please leave your comments below with your thoughts on my picks. If any of you would like to have a friendly competition let me know.  Ties count as a half point on my winning percentage.  Slow start but it will get better. If you want me to do a pick for a game, just let me know.

(W) 12:00 #3 Oklahoma vs #11 Texas in Dallas Texas (ABC)

Both teams have a 0 in the loss column. Something has to give here. It is a tough game to pick. But Oklahoma's experience just may be what takes them over the edge. Not sure if either McCoy or Ash will be able to get it down today. Oklahoma is doing very well ATS when they are the favorite and it will get a little better today. Texas may keep it close early but Oklahoma should when by at least two touchdowns today. Lay the points. (OKL -10.5)

Neither one of these teams has the ability to run away in this game. So a two touchdown spot is two much. Two bad teams in the Big Ten will fight it out and keep it close. Take the points. Either team can win this. (MIN +14)

(L) 12:30 #23 Florida State at Wake Forest (GamePlan)

This line is a little off. FSU is a pretty good team. Wake, as usual is really bad. Florida State could easily be up by 14 in the first quarter. FSU will when this by at least three scores. Lay them. (FSU -10)

(W) 2:30 #19 Illinois at Indiana (Big Ten Network)

There are many questions about Illinois this year. Does coach Ron Z have it turned around and going in the right direction? Is Ill a contender in the Big Ten? We will have to keep wondering because these questions won't be answered today against a very bad Indiana squad. Lay the points. (ILL -14)

(W) 3:00 Boston College at #8 Clemson (GamePlan)

Clemson really trying to prove something. They had a huge win last week against a touchdown favorite Virgina Tech. There won't be a let down today against an average at best BC team. Home field wins this game by itself. Lay the points. (CLE -21

LSU looks like no one can beat them. Every time they have been questioned and then tested, they have proven themselves. Another ranked opponent today on the docket. Sorry Florida, it's not your fault. You were just on the schedule. LSU will when this by at least two touchdowns. (LSU -12.5)

The Corn Huskers of Lincoln will be going crazy tonight. Their first Big Ten conference game at home is not only against OSU, but also a night game. They will come into tonight's game heated from the beating they got last week against power house WIS. OSU, according to Coach Luke, is still trying to find who they are. Well, tonight they will find that they are not a contender in the conference. Nebraska will blow out the Bucks tonight. (NEB -10)

(W) 12:00 Eastern Michigan at Michigan (Big Ten Network)

Eastern Michigan is no match for Michigan. Michigan should win this game. However, this line is a little out there. Although Michigan is getting a lot better with their new coach Brady Hoke, there defense is still not where he wants it to be. Eastern Michigan will be able to score in this game. Michigan won't cover this huge spread. (EAS +29.5)

Wisconsin will continue their scrimmages today on the road. I am begging to think this team is a little underrated at #7. They have made it look easy so far this year and will win easily by this spread. This should be around 21 or so. Lay the points. (WIS -16)

(L) 3:30 #15 Michigan State at Notre Dame (NBC)

Notre Dame and Brian Kelly have got of to a tough start this year. Today won't be any easier. Michigan State really hasn't had a big test to this point. Today will be their first. (L) 7:30 #18 Ohio State at Miami (Fl) (ESPN)

Ohio State should have learned a lot from their scare last week against Mac team Toledo. Both teams are missing players for this one and that has to be considered. Harris will be back for Miami and it will give OSU an advantage. Harris likes to throw the ball to the defense and OSU should win the turnover battle which puts them in a good spot. It should be a good one to watch. Take the points. (OHI +2.5)

(W) 10:45 #8 Stanford at Arizona (ESPN)

Stanford has been playing well together as a team with their future Sunday playing quarterback leader Andrew Luck. This line is a little off. Vegas is giving home field a little too much of an advantage. Stanford by at least two touchdowns. Lay the points. (STA -9)

(W, Did I say around 10 points) 8:00 #3 LSU at #25 Mississippi State (ESPN)

LSU has been on a roll so far scoring pretty much whenever they want to. The LSU offense has average 44.5 points a game thus far including a 40-27 butt whipping vs former #3 Oregon. This will be LSU's first road game but I think they will still be a huge favorite tonight. This small line is giving LSU no respect. This line should be just under 10 so at 3 it is a steal. (LSU -3)

September 11 (3-6)

(L, OSU always struggles with one bad Ohio team. How could I forget) 12:00 Toledo at #15 Ohio State (Big Ten Network)

Although Toledo is a better team than Akron, they are no match for the OSU Buckeyes. Yes Toledo, you did beat Michigan a few years ago. But, Michigan, well was not Michigan then. Buckeyes will roll today. Lay the points.

(OSU -17.5)

(L) 12:00 Iowa at Iowa State (NO TV)

(W) 12:00 Oregon State at #8 Wisconsin (ESPN)

Wisconsin looked like a well oiled machine last week against UNLV. This week things look like it will be much of the same. OSU will have a lot of trouble stopping Wisconsin's offense. Lay the points.

(W, I said at least a tochdown, lol) 3:30 Cincinnati at Tennessee (ESPN 2)

Tennessee was a little disappointing last year. I think they are going to turn things around this year and show some major improvements. Cin will lose this game by at least a touchdown.

(L, Not sure what happened here) 3:30 New Mexico State at Minnesota (Big Ten Network)

Minnesota looked very good against USC last week. They were in that game all the way through. Very nice. NMS will not have too many similarities to USC.

(W) 3:30 #6 Stanford at Duke (ESPN U)

Stanford very good. Duke Very bad. Stanford could win this game with their second team by this margin. Lay the points.

This is one of those games I am really looking forward to watching. It should be a good game. If this one was in Alabama I would be more worried about this line. In Happy Valley I love Penn State covering today. They probably won't win but the will put up a good fight.

Florida might be up by this line at the end of the first quarter. They might be thinking about their first conference game against Tennessee in their next game. If they are, then, it won't matter. UAB has been horrible on the road and it won't stop today. Without any question, lay the points.

September 5 (0-1)

(L, Really, pick six to close the game) 8:00 Miami (FL) at Maryland (ESPN)

I know Miami is having some off the field trouble lately. I also understand that several players will not be playing in this game. What you have understand is that even with the two things I mentioned above and the fact that it is a road game for Miami. They are still playing Maryland, and this is not a basketball game. Even with the players MIA from Miami, they should still win this game. The nine 9.5 change in the line is just way too much. So I have to jump on this line and take the points tonight.

(MIA +4)

September 4 (2-0) 1.00

(W) Rain shortened game. WV was in control. 3:30 Marshall at #24 West Virgina (ESPN)

West Virgina should cover this line with ease. Marshall is no match for this team that will score and score often. This line should be around 28. Lay the points today.

(WES -20)

(W): This was an easy play. I almost felt bad playing it. 7:30 SMU at #8 Texas A&M (None)

SMU is out of their league here. And I don't just mean they are not in the Big 12. I think buying a lottery ticket would be a better shot today then taking SMU. With a win today every team in the Big 12 will be tied for first place.
