What slump? Cavs kick Spurs

There were plenty of reasons to be nervous heading into this game against San Antonio.  The Cavs were coming off a huge thumping courtesy of the Orlando Magic.  The night before that, they got beat by the lottery bound Wizards.  In addition to that, another key frontcourt member was out, as Anderson Varejao sat this one out due to a wrist injury.

None of that mattered, as the Cavs easily defeated the Spurs 101-81.  With only 5 games to go, Cleveland has a 4 game lead on the Celtics, all but cementing their place as the top seeded eastern conference team.

No pregame theatrics this time.  No LeBron trying to get his teammates going.  He was angry, and came out on a mission, scoring 18 points in the 1st quarter.  After watching Parker post up an impressive statline in that same stanza, he switched over to guard him and kept the fast frenchman in check the rest of the way.

Folks, that’s MVP stuff right there.  He takes pride in that sterling homecourt record, which is now 37-1.  Noone comes into the Q and has an easy go of it.  Only 3 home games to go to tie the Boston Celtics for homecourt dominance in a season.

It’s a special feeling, as a longtime Cavs fan.  I expect them to not only win at home on a nightly basis, but to crush the soul of the opposition.  Fighting off the Lakers for overall homecourt advantage is about the only battle left.  Assuming that battle is wrapped up by the time the Cavs approach their home finale on Wednesday, April 15th against the 76ers, I could concievably see them losing that game.  Go for the record.  Limit the minutes of the older guys, but you know LeBron wants a piece of this history.  He’s only 24 years old.  He doesn’t need the rest.  Make history, boys.
