Indiana is like an old rug. About once a year you just have to take it outside and beat it.

The Coach's take on the OSU/Indiana game, the week that was in college football, and the week that will be.

THE GAME:

"Even though our kicker did his best to upset me, the end was never in doubt. I could just sit back and watch our defense totally dismantle yet another team and our quarterback weave through linebackers like a cheetah on ice."

That was my kind of game. Even though our kicker did his best to upset me, the end was never in doubt. I could just sit back and watch our defense totally dismantle yet another team and our quarterback weave through linebackers like a cheetah on ice. They ran the Pistol but we shot the Silver Bullets. Brandon Saine got his first start but not his last. The offensive line was actually pushing people down field and Duron Carter looked just like his daddy on that two handed grab on the goal line. The defensive line was, once again, dominating. Even when Larimore went out with an injury Denlinger stepped in and on his first play bagged an interception. The linebackers may have had their best game yet and the defensive backs were respectable. We missed Coleman but if he had to miss a game it was good that it was the Indiana game as opposed to say, this week.

What is it with Pettrey? How can a guy consistently knock down 50 yard field goals and consistently miss the chip shots? I could never understand how Pretorius beat him out but I think I am beginning to see a pattern here. And it's not just him. Terrelle Pryor threaded some long beauties to Sanzenbacher and Posey and Carter but couldn't seem to hit the little eight yard poppers over the middle. He's gotten better at everything and he will get better at that as well. And I can't wait to see Zoom Saine or Flash Thomas take one of those to the house. Marcus Hall saw his first action and when he walked on the field he gave us our fifth five star offensive lineman in the game. He is a true freshman, Justin Boren is a junior and the other three are sophomores. The future of our offensive line looks bright indeed and that may be the first time I've said that since Tressel's arrival.

That was our sixteenth consecutive Big Ten road win which ties a school record. The Big Ten record is 17 which is held by the skunk helmets. We could tie that record at Purdue in two weeks and break it at Penn State. And then add to it in the toilet bowl at skunk helmet U. itself. Ahhh, life just gets better and better.

THAT WHICH WAS:

We started the weekend with 17 undefeated teams. Four of them, Florida, Kansas, Missouri and Texas didn't play. Four played and lost, UCLA, Texas A&M, Houston and meeeshitagin. That leaves thirteen going into week six. Missouri, Boise State, Cincinnati and South Florida are off this week so they are safe. LSU plays at Florida so that will leave no more than twelve for week seven. Auburn plays at Arkansas, Alabama plays at Mississippi, Missouri plays Nebraska, TCU plays at Air Force and Wisconsin comes to Columbus with a nice, although somewhat tainted, 5-0 record. So there could be a few more upsets this week and you can bet I will keep you up to date.

Navy torpedoed Air Force 16-13. Avast matey, weigh the anchor and swab the poop deck, TCU arrives on Saturday.

Arkansas pounded Texas A&M 47-19 and I can't tell you how happy I am that their quarterback, Ryan Mallet, transferred out of meeeshitagin when he saw through DickRod and his zone-read offense.

Boise State beat U.C. Davis 34-16. Yeah, I don't know who they are either.

Boston College gave Bobby Bowden his third loss this year. Dagummit!

USC beat Cal like a brown eyed step child in Norway. Vell, Cal vas over rated anyvay.

Clems-son lost to...ah, who cares who, they lost.

East Carolina keel hauled Marshall 21-17. We.....Arrrgh.....The Pirates.

LSU went between the hedges and beat Georgia 20-13. Georgia is an SEC team with two losses. That means that one more loss and they are out of the race to play in the national championship game.

Iowa struggled with Arkansas State. I believe they may have been a little flat after that big Penn State win last week. They should be out of their funk this week when meeeshitagin rolls into the corn belt.

Miami beat Oklahoma 21-20. Miami is 3-1 and Oklahoma is 2-2. Who'd a guessed that?

Tater Tot and his meeeshitagin wolverettes traveled to East Lansing to face the 300 Spartans but this time the Spartans held on for the victory. It took overtime and some of the dumbest play calling by Dantonio for the 300 to overcome the superiority of Tater Tot, but overcome they did, 26-20.

Northwestern was down 21-3 and came back to beat Purdon't 27-21. The Boilermakers missed a few rivets and in the end it sank the ship.

The luck of the Irish is back. How they can continue to squeak out win after win is beyond me. If you wanted to make a film about bad tackling you could have filmed that game and won an Oscar.

The Oregon Ducks moved to 4-1 by beating Washington State 52-6. Fear the Ducks.

South Florida moved to 5-0 by thumping Suckacuse 34-20 and moved into a tie for first place in the Big Least with Cincinnati. They both have next week off and then will play for all of the marbles on Thursday, Oct 15, in Florida.

Stanford, with a 24-16 win over UCLA took over sole possession of first place in the PAC 10. You just know that can't last.

Ball State moved ahead of Toledo with 30 seconds to go. Toledo brought the kickoff back to mid field and on their first play threw a touch down pass to win the game. Holy Toledo!

Wisconsin beat Minni-soso 31-28 to go to 5-0. Minni-soso simply could not stop their running back, John Clay, and the cheese heads prevailed.

After one quarter Mount Union led B-W 3-0. At half time it was 16-0. After the third quarter it was 23-0 and the game ended 30-0. It was simply methodical. Mount's good but I don't see them in the national championship game. They are in a total rebuilding year and they may win the conference but I just don't see them getting through the playoffs. But I wouldn't bet against them.

THAT WHICH WILL BE:

TCU is undefeated and has beaten a couple of ACC teams (who hasn't?) but Air Force is a whole another animal with that pass out of the triple option crap. Could be to much to learn to defend in one week.

Alabama at Ole Miss. Mississippi's one loss was on the road at South Carolina but Nick The Snake Saban better have both fangs bared when he visits the Rebels.

Auburn at Arkansas. If Mallet is hot Auburn may find the true meaning of the swine flu is getting crapped on by the Hogs.

Baylor at Oklahoma. Baylor is pretty good and the Sooners might not have their heart's in it at 2-2. If they were at Baylor the Sooner fans would definitely be in a sweat.

Boston College travels to Blacksburg to take on Virginia Tech for ACC supremacy. Woop-dee-doo.

Georgia Tech at Florida State. This appears to be a dog fight for second place in the ACC. Woop-dee-double-doo.

meeeshitagin at Iowa where the corn isn't maize . And the only things that will be blue after this game will be the black and blue spots all over Tater Tot's frail little body.

Florida at LSU. Will Tim Tebow be ready to play? Will he have to perform neuro-surgery on himself with just a drill and a mirror an hour before kickoff? Will Les Miles be Gator bait or will Pope Urban of Meyer be Tiger bait? Who cares, the important thing is that one of the SEC undefeated teams will be beaten and probably drop clear to number five in the polls.

Nebraska at Missouri. This is another Thursday night match up worth watching. Their schedules they have played are filled with the likes of Bowling Green, Furman, Nevada, Florida Atlantic, Arkansas State and La. Lafayette so neither team has been forced to play at a very high level. I'll go with the Huskers in an upset.

Oklahoma State at Texas A&M. Both teams are 3-1 and both have a wide open offense, and like every other team in the Big 12, a defense that couldn't stop a snail on the side walk on a hot sunny day.

The Oregon Ducks travel to Pasadena to take on the pretty boys in pastel of UCLA. The Ducks and the pretty boys playing football? Maybe they ought to just meet in San Francisco.

Stanford at Oregon State. Let's see, brains versus beavers. Beavers win that one every time.

Oklahoma State at Texas A&M. This should be a good game but I see the Cowboys branding the Aggies.

West Virginia has the week off as they visit Suckacuse for a yawner.

Wisconsin at Ohio State. Whisky rolls into Columbus with a 5-0 record that includes big wins over Northern Illinois, Fresno State, MSU, Minni-soso and Wooford. They have not seen a defense yet which makes my eyes hunger for this one. The down side is that Tressel is 3-3 against Wisconsin and the Horseshoe doesn't scare them a bit. But in the end their week schedule will have done nothing to make them better. I expect it to be close but talent will win this one for the Buckeyes 27-14.

Mount Union, at 4-0, travels to Capital, also at 4-0. Could be a goodun.
