Updates from Dunedin, FL

Hey Columbus Sports Fans!

Moving On Up - As some of you might know, I was recently moved up to Class A Advanced Florida State League, also known as "High A". I'm playing for the Dunedin Blue Jays in a league that is a level higher than where I would have been with the Tigers organization. This just shows that a lot of players don't necessarily make it to the Big Leagues with the organization they were drafted by. At this point in my career I am not worrying about that or other things I can't control. I come to the ballpark everyday ready to throw if called upon as a reliever.

Dunedin Blue Jays - My current team in Dunedin is very unique. It's a team that most people would call "full of money". By this, I mean that there are a lot of high draft picks that made a lot of money with their signing bonuses. Around our infield we have a 1st Round Third Baseman, Supplemental 1st Round Shortstop, and a 2nd Round Second Baseman. We also have a Supplemental 1st Round Pitcher and two 3rd Round Pitchers. Not to mention we have a former big league pitcher that was the 4th overall pick in the 2002 draft with the Baltimore Orioles. All those players add up to about $7 million in signing bonus money.

With all those high-round players, you would think our team would be a no-doubt first place team. However, just ask the New York Yankees of the past five or six years and they’ll tell you that money can’t necessarily buy championships. As of right now we are 2nd-to-last place in our division with about a month left to play. We are only a few games back and still have a chance to go on a run and make the playoffs. We’ll see…

Feel free to check out any minor league player or team on www.milb.com, including all your former Buckeyes. Also, feel free to post any questions or comments that you have and I will be glad to respond to them.

Thanks for reading!
