Looking at some of the options for #1 seeds in the NCAA men's tournament.
In a little over 24 hours the brackets for the NCAA men's basketball tournament will be released! Can you tell my excitement? The last couple of weeks we've looked at the bubble teams but now let's take a look at these teams that people believe will be a #1 seed. There are probably 6 or 7 options people are throwing out there. Let's take a look at these teams.
1. UNC. 28-3, 13-3 in conference play.
Good Wins: Duke (twice), Michigan State, Florida State, Clemson, Maryland
Not So Great Losses: Maryland, Boston College
2. UCONN. 27-4, 15-3 in conference play.
Good Wins: Louisville, Syracuse, Villanova, WVU, Gonzaga, Marquette, Michigan, Wisconsin
Not So Great Losses: Georgetown
3. Pittsburgh. 28-4, 15-3 in conference play
Good Wins: UCONN (twice), Syracuse, Florida State, Siena, WVU (twice), Marquette
Not So Great Losses: Providence
4. Memphis. 30-3, 16-0 in conference play.
Good Wins: Tennessee, Gonzaga, UAB (twice)
Not So Great Losses: Georgetown
5. Michigan State. 26-5, 15-3 in conference play.
Good Wins: Kansas, Oklahoma State, Illinois (twice), Purdue, Ohio State (twice) Minnesota (three times), Texas, Michigan, Wisconsin
Not So Great Losses: UNC, Maryland, Penn State, Northwestern
6. Louisville. 27-5, 16-2 in conference play.
Good Wins: Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Villanova (twice) WVU (twice), Marquette, UAB
Not So Great Losses: Minnesota, Western Kentucky, UNLV, Notre Dame
7. Duke. 26-6, 11-5 in conference play.
Good Wins: Wake Forest, Florida State, Xavier, Purdue, Michigan
Not So Great Losses: Clemson, Michigan, Boston College
Out of these 7 teams, who would you put as number one seeds? It's not that easy for me. I don't want to give Louisville a number one seed. But how could I not want to give them one since they won the Big East over UCONN and Pittsburgh by two games yet I want to give UCONN & Pittsbugh one? Also Louisville lost to Minnesota and Michigan State beat Minnesota three times. But Michigan State also got a beatdown from UNC losing to them by 35. Some people don't want to give Memphis love because they play in Conference USA but they played in Conference USA last year and made it to the championship game. I just hope they take making free throws more seriously this year. Duke is only in option in my mind if everyone else loses. So right now the #1 seeds in my are North Carolina and..............................................................................................................? Since obviously I have no idea, how bout you decide. Who would you pick for #1 seeds?
