Published September 17, 2009 Week 3: 5 Games to WatchIt's taken me a few days to deal with what happen last weekend. The Buckeyes on Saturday night and then that stupidity by the Bengals on Sunday. And don't let me even mention Kanye West. But this is a sports blog so we won't go there. After we cheer on our mighty Buckeyes Saturday at noon, we will have a whole day of games left to pick from. Here are 5* games that should help you get through the rest of your Saturday sober or not (not in order). 1. Tennessee @ Florida. 3:30. CBS. Why watch this game? It's the kickoff of college football on CBS. And if you are a gator fan you will want to watch this brutal beating. I'd love to think that Tennessee has a chance in this game. I get Rocky Top stuck in my head a lot. But then again if teams believed they didn't have a chance Appalachian State wouldn't have happened. You play to win the game, right? That is if you weren't facing Urban Meyer who takes everything personally. 2. Nebraska @ VA. Tech. 3:30. ABC/ESPN. There is something about those Cornhuskers for me this year. I don't know what it is but I feel like they are on the upswing. Nebraska hasn't done much since they faced Miami in 2001 in the BCS Championship game. Maybe this will be the beginning of the turnaround? 3. MIchigan State @ Notre Dame. 3:30. NBC. The last time Notre Dame beat Michigan State at home? Lou Holtz was still the coach. If they don't beat them on Saturday, what will this mean for Charlie Weis? 4. Florida State @ BYU. 7:00. Versus. Florida State had a tough time getting passed Jacksonville State last weekend and BYU is feeling pretty good about themselves right now. A win against Oklahoma and Florida State in the same year could mean great things for this program. If undefeated, possible attendance in the championship game? 5. Texas Tech @ Texas. 8:00. ABC. This game was a classic last year. Not so sure it will be this year. It is payback time for the Longhorns. And the game is being played in Austin. Will this game be close? *there are other games to watch but I will give honorable mention to one. Cal @ Minnesota. Noon. ESPN. Same time as the Buckeye game so it will be hard to watch but if Minnesota can pull off the upset then this would be the marquee win of the Big Ten non-conference schedule. Go Gophers!
