And The Cincinnati Bengals Franchise Tag Goes To.....The Kicker!

Cincinnati Bengals Franchise Player

By

The Cincinnati Bengals have their franchise player. No it's not the offensive lineman that can help protect Carson Palmer. No it's not the wide receiver that Carson Palmer loves throwing to. It appears that the Cincinnati Bengals have put their money behind Shayne Graham the kicker. He is a Pro Bowl kicker though and 4th all time in NFL history in field goal accuracy. He's also rather reliable when the Bengals can't get that touchdown and needs a field goal. So maybe this was a good move on the Bengals part. While Carson Palmer figures out how to break in the new wide receivers at least they'll have field goals.

So what does this mean for T.J. Houshmandzadeh? He's 99.2 percent sure he'll be playing elsewhere. Why exactly 99.2? So does that mean there is a .8 percent chance T.J. will decide to stay with the Bengals? What does this mean for the offense? Who will Carson Palmer throw it to? Will Carson's elbow be okay to throw it to anyone? If not will we have to deal with Harvard again?

I'm panicking, I know that. But being a Bengals fan there is never just one question. There are tons. And these questions do not get answered over night. I'm a Shayne Graham fan and was not happy when someone picked him before me in my fantasy league last year. But now this lets T.J. test the waters more in free agency. If you are not going to franchise him why didn't you trade him and get something for him? Another one of those questions.
