Super Bowl Predictions - New England vs. New York Giants

Super Bowl predictions from a few of our fearless Featured Writers (although I guess you're only "fearless" if you're willing to pick the Giants to win!)

Dave Herd:  The Patriots will chase the Giants up the beanstalk with pressure on Eli Manning, forcing poor decisions and a few picks. The Giants defensive line will cause some problems as well, but Tom Brady will dump off to Wes Welker 7 to 10 times for 100 yards, as he has all year, and will hit Randy Moss for a big one. Laurence Maroney will then take over the 4th quarter and the Giants will be desperate to just get the ball back.
Final Score -- Patriots 27  Giants 16.

Brian White:  Besides the obvious experience difference at quarterback (and most other positions too), New England will be playing on a field that unlike the recent late season games they've played, will be very conducive to their high powered offense. In addition, giving Bill Belichick and Tom Brady 2 full weeks to prepare for a team they just faced and beat last month (on the road no less), and the Patriots should make this what most Super Bowl games turn into, everyone pays more attention to the commercials instead of the game because it's not likely to be close.
Final Score -- Patriots 38  Giants 17

Josh Lehman:  It's sexy. It's cute. And face it, we're all rooting for it. The only problem with picking the New York Football Giants to upset that juggernaut in Boston is that it's wrong. There's no chance. The Pats have steamrolled their way to 18-0. They've been the best team all season and there's no reason to think they won't win this game. In 1972, with the Dolphins at 16-0, they were installed as underdogs against the Washington Redskins. They took it personally, and a completely botched field goal attempt was the only thing that kept their 14-7 victory from being a shutout. As the Vegas line, which started at 14 points, continues to shrink by the hour, you know the boys in New England are feeding off of the "disrespect." Tom Brady throws four touchdowns en route to his third Super Bowl MVP and the Patriots roll.
Final Score -- Patriots 31  Giants 10

Steve Michalovich:  It's hard to imagine that in the nice Arizona weather that New England will not light up the Giant's defense. They don't want this to be close like the last game of the season, and their experience will greatly show in this game.
Final Score -- New England 35  NY Giants 20

Keith Britton: It seems more and more like all the experts are picking the Patriots, but maintain the Giants will make it very close.  I can see the Giants making it close, but the ability of the Patriots to prove themselves week in and week out as one of the best, if not the best, team at making adjustments going into the second half.  Bill Belichick has also proven to be almost unbeatable when given two weeks to prepare a defensive scheme that will be able to take advantage of the weaknesses of the opponent.  Combine that experience with the inexperience with Eli Manning, and it’s a bad combination.  Although Manning has played extremely well so far this offseason, the biggest stage is totally different and given the fact he’s had to face the media pressure for two weeks leading into the game, it’s a totally different experience than he’s ever had before.

The Patriots will make the adjustments at half and will pressure Manning at crucial points in the second half.  Tom Brady will prove the foot is fine and Randy Moss could be the star of the game, given he’s been more than silent for two straight weeks on the field.  Give the Patriots one more ring and finally shut up those ’72 Dolphins.

Final Score --  New England 34  NY Giants 23

Dan Falkenberg: Final Score -- Patriots 31 Giants 20.  I'd much rather see the Giants win though.
