The "Real" Top 25, week 11

You can start to see the desperation in some of the top teams now that it is getting down to the end of the season. For those of you BCS haters such as myself, there is a good chance of a team getting screwed. If Ohio State loses, there could be tons of teams with one loss. Also, if Kansas remains unbeaten, what if it doesn't make it over a one loss team? A lot of big games still have to be played. But please do not call these playoff games. They aren't Kirk!

1. Ohio State 10-0 (1): Two games remaining for the lone team that no doubt controls its own destiny. Could there be a couple defensive questions now after giving up 17 to a Hill-less Badgers team?

2. LSU 8-1 (2): The Tigers just keep finding a way to win games. You have to be lucky to go through the SEC with even one loss (see Florida, 2006).  How many losses would OSU have now with that schedule?

3. Oregon 8-1 (4): The Quack Attack looked great against ASU and all that remains are struggling teams. The defense has been stepping up for the powerful offense.

4. Oklahoma 8-1 (5): A dominating performance over a hapless Texas A&M squad. Still a couple of tough games remain before the Big 12 championship game.

5. Kansas 9-0 (8): Wow, the Jayhawks have won games defensively and on offense. Which one will do the job at a reeling OSU team at night? It will have to be both. After watching the OSU collapse, I think KU will win.

6. West Virginia 7-1 (6): What was supposed to be the Big East game of the year is just a big game for WV. UCONN and Cinci are still ahead as well.

7. Missouri 8-1 (9): A surprising win, at least to me, at Colorado, and boy did Mizzou look awesome after the first quarter. Two more weeks until the big showdown with Kansas. Will one of them slip first?

8. Georgia 7-2 (10): Struggled a bit with Troy, which I expected, and a huge game this week with Auburn. The offense is clicking now, but the defense doesn't look so good.

9. Arizona State 8-1 (7): Can't blame the Sun Devils for losing at Oregon, and they didn't look too bad in defeat. Win out, and the Rose Bowl isn't out of the question.

10. Boston College 8-1 (3): It was only a matter of time before BC stumbled. That was just plain ugly though losing to a bad FSU team.

11. Michigan 8-2 (11): Snuck away from East Lansing with a nice comeback victory. It was the Big Blue's first really close game since App State. That could prove them well heading into the OSU game, but will they be healthy?

12. Texas 8-2 (12): Talking about sneaking away, the Horns overcame two 21 point deficits to win at OSU. The offense has picked it up, but the D looks week. A lot of points will be scored this week with Texas Tech.

13. Virginia Tech 7-2 (13): Looked pretty darn good at Georgia Tech, but it looked like the Yellow Jackets have packed it in.

14. UCONN 8-1 (18): The Huskies will have a better win percentage in football than basketball. You heard it hear first. This is not a bad football team.

15. USC 7-2 (15): It is finally starting to get its legs back after some bad performances. Still some tough games remaining.

16. Auburn 7-3 (16): It is a good thing the Tigers play a brutally easy nonconference schedule, because now the SEC comes calling, and it is East-leading Georgia.

17. Florida 6-3 (17): It has been a struggle for UF the last two years against Spurrier. Expect another close one this week.

18. Alabama 6-3 (14): What a heart-breaking loss for the Tide against LSU. Just imagine how good this team will be though with good players.

19. Hawaii 9-0 (19): I was told that if you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all.

20. Arkansas 6-3 (-): With all the turmoil, the Hogs are having a pretty good season. Three tough losses to three good teams, without Marcus Monk, and what a difference he makes.

21. Tennessee 6-3 (22): A huge win to build its confidence, but a tough game with Arkansas is up next.

22. Clemson 7-2 (24): The Tigers just keep quietly rolling along as the offense is making up for its mistakes aganst Georgia Tech.

23. Virginia 7-2 (-): The Cavs keep winning with smoke and mirrors, but they are winning.

24. Boise State (-): Last year's cinderella has been strong after its loss to Washington.

25. Kentucky 6-3 (-): Lets see if UK is reenergized after the bye week.
