Buckeye fans, don't get overconfident

Saturday night's victory at Wisconsin has a lot of people thinking this team is back on the same road to success that was expected of them before the season took a detour. Although the new backfield combo of Terrelle ("I'm a man now" Pryor) and Beanie Wells provides the Buckeyes with a much needed boost of excitement and big play potential on offense, don't let yourself get carried away and think that running the rest of the schedule is a sure thing by any means.

With major questions on defense (can they really stop the run? where'd the pash rush go?) and with a continued lack of consistency scoring touchdowns instead of field goals, getting past the rest of the teams on their schedule without a loss or two is not something Buckeye fans should count on, despite the toughness they displayed and the clutch plays they were able to put together in Madison.

Getting past Michigan St., Northwestern, Penn St. and Illinois unscathed (yes, Michigan intentionally left off this list), all teams that will seriously challenge the Buckeye's defense and probably put up more points than Wisconsin did, will be no easy feat.

Unless the D-line suddenly develops into the force they were expected to be from the start of the season, and the coaching staff comes up with some blitz packages that actually work, at least 2 of those games will likely come down to the fourth quarter again, with Ohio State needing a late score to pull out a victory.

Maybe not exactly the type of on the field domination that many expected this year, but as we all learned in 2002 and many times since with Tressel Ball, a close victory is better than no victory at all.
